Choosing Between Vehicle Types

It’s time to buy a new car, and you have a list of things that you want in it. As you look at all of the different cars – literally hundreds of models and makes – you may find that you feel a little overwhelmed about what it is that you’re going to buy.

Exploring the styles of Jeep certified pre-owned vehicles can be a good first step when you want to be sure that you’re doing as much as possible to get the vehicle you need and that will keep your family on top of things for a good, long time. Here’s a look at the most common options.

Sedans

Your standard car is (usually) known as a sedan. You can have a 2 door sedan or a 4 door sedan. These cars can have anywhere from 4 to 8 cylinders, and they come in all shapes and sizes. If you are looking for a smaller vehicle with great gas mileage, you may be at the point where you want to go ahead and get a sedan.

Sports Utility Vehicles

Sports Utility Vehicles, usually called SUV’s, are larger than sedans, but they aren’t built like trucks. These are known for being higher off the ground and, unlike trucks, they’re completely closed in. Nowadays, SUV’s aren’t the gas guzzlers that they used to be. There are even a number of Hybrid SUV’s that work really well while also saving you money on gas and helping you to play a role in saving the environment.

Crossovers

Crossovers are just what they sound like – a crossover between a sedan and an SUV. They usually have a hatchback (where the trunk is not a separate part of the car), like an SUV. But, they’re lower to the ground and they are shorter than most SUV’s. They usually have 4 wheel drive options, like SUV’s, as well, allowing you to drive in snow and mud more easily.

Vans

Vans are made for carrying people more than objects. Most vans have at least 2 rows of seats behind the driver and passenger seats, and then they have a hatchback like SUV’s and crossovers. Large vans can have up to 4 rows of seats, but some of them may need special licenses to drive, so be sure that you research before you invest any amount of money into a larger van.

Trucks

Trucks are really useful if you’re hauling items or animals around on a regular basis. These have a bed on the back of them, allowing you to have a lot of space to carry things like hay, toolboxes, or furniture. Trucks usually have lower gas mileage, so they’re better if you don’t travel too far, too often.

It’s all about your needs and what your family may need. Explore what there is for you to find, look at your budget, and work out what it is that you need to get your hands on. In the end, you’ll be much better off and have a car that you’re happy with.
